During the 1950s when Senator Joe McCarthy was exposing Communists in government jobs, one of his famous targets was an Army Major named Peress, who was a security risk. “Who Promoted Peress to Major?” because a sort of national slogan.
It’s time that we ask the question, Who promoted Nidal Malik Hasan to the rank of Army Major? Hasan is the terrorist who murdered 13 of his military colleagues plus one unborn baby at Fort Hood, wounding 40 others, while he was shouting “Allah is the Greatest.” He was promoted to be a major only last April, even though most of the incriminating facts about him were known to the Army. Isn’t anybody going to be held responsible for promoting Hasan to the high rank of Major?
Here are some of the facts about Hasan that were known to the Army before he went on his killing rampage. He had written favorably on the internet about suicide bombings that kill innocent civilians. He had defended the rhetoric of jihad to his colleagues. Hasan had warned of bad things to happen to the United States if Muslims were not permitted to leave the military. He tried to convert some of his psychiatric patients to Islam. He distributed his business cards that identified himself as “SOA”, standing for soldier of Allah. Hasan gave a lecture where he declared that “It’s getting harder and harder for Muslims in the service to morally justify being in a military that seems constantly engaged against fellow Muslims.” He quoted the Koran as saying, “Fight those who do not believe in Allah.” He sent emails to an al-Qaeda agent with strong ties to the 9/11 attackers.
The question is, Who promoted Hasan to Major? The American people are entitled to know the answer to that question.
