The simple fact is there is a glut of college educated people in the the US. If you have been paying attention this has been the case since the late 1980's. It came to a head in 2000 and 2001. There are still plenty of news articles around from the day. However, politicians and educators continue sell the idea that higher education alone will lift people out of low incomes and poor jobs. They always seem to leave out the part that economic foreign and domestic policies are the most heavily weighted factors in the equation for good jobs and good salaries. Policies such as NAFTA, GATT, accelerated immigration, the sale of US corporations, dessemination of technical information and outsourcing are key in the destruction of the deteriorating employment market. A glut of labor worthless degrees. US politicians have made paupers of a significant portion of the US population.
