In a similar vein, I watched a History Channel show spotlighting one of the last remaining Victory Ships, still being used to this day even with it's slow and inefficient engines. The presentation focused on the hazards of crossing the Atlantic with U-boats plucking them off like they were target practice; so many lives lost in our efforts to keep liberty alive.

That line about the blood stained decks reaches a place in my soul and tugs at my patriotic heart strings. Thanks for posting this.

Never let facts get in the way of a good story, "The wind and solar energy industries, as well as the biofuels industry, continue to depend on government subsidies to exist, as opposed to private enterprises that have a long track record of providing affordable electricity."

Nobody wants to hear how stupid our government is behaving, destroying the most powerful and successful nation's industrial capabilities in favor of a few Polar Bears who will do just fine whether we use coal in our energy policy or freeze to death with Cap and Trade.

Thanks for telling it like it is.

Steve,

Good Points and article. I believe Dr. Wm. J. Bennett's series entitled "America, The Last Best Hope" would be a great help in the process of teaching truth - especially about American History - in our classrooms. I am sure you already know of it.

I HAVE to relate some GOOD economic news. Volkswagen is in the process of building a state of the art plant in Chattanooga, Tn..one of my favorite all time medium cities in the US. If you have never been there, try it, you will like this lovely town on the Tennessee River with a backdrop of OLD mountain range of the Appalachian chain. In any event, the robotics are going in now .. watch the video...http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2010/feb/26/video-vw-hits-milestone-robots/ - Fantastic. This news made my day. I am a HARD industries promoter...WE have to start making 'stuff' again otherwise the economy is never really going to improve. GDP growth looks good on the books..but if no jobs or engineering, or invention and innovation are going on in the hard sector...we will end up in the SAME economic soup as we have NOW. The stock market isn't enough..growth of the stock market has become a ponzi scheme built on bubbles, hopes and hype. Fortunes have been made, and for a time the 401K has been shoved in our faces as ENOUGH of a reason for exportation of jobs, profits that don't go back into the companies but are given in HUGE bonuses or stock buy backs, or to merge and become TOO BIG TO FAIL companies and banks. WE let this happen, many hid behind 'free market' or 'free trade' ideology without understanding that didn't mean having our brains drop out of our heads and selling off entire industries to the rest of the world, particularly the Japanese, Chinese, AND the British cartels to SHORT TERM profits without really building the companies and industries for FUTURE growth. BUT I digress. This makes me happy for today. But Obamacare and Obamamadness still exists. IF only they could find him a country or town in say ... the Middle East to screw up .. many places in the developing world need 'activist' of the Saul Alinsky sort .. Obama .. be a prince and do us and them a favor. Community activism also would sell well in South Africa which I hear is in a world of hurt in many way. I can not believe this guy has gotten away with lying about absolutely everything, particularly the WAY he would conduct policy decisions, or that NO one is going to suffer from Obamacare. Guess what, they already are. The 2010 Medicare health plans have experienced drastic draconian cuts. The really 'good' plans have been replaced by higher cost half rear end plans that do not provide as much. Doctors, the good ones, must be grinding their teeth at night. How did we become a nation where 2 percent and growing of the GDP is from LITIGATION by the law 'profession.' Until lawyers experience what doctors are experiencing..nothing will change for the better. It isn't simply tort reform that is the issue..it is also the fact that LITIGATION has become a pillar industry. In the end it is the weakest pillar. The rule of law should not depend on everyone suing everyone else, the need for lawyers to GET through the MAZE of government regulations, the special interests like the environmental movement that has made suing the government a luxurious living. OF course the greens, green bureaucrats, the BIG enviro satraps never tell you they big offices and fat salaries are being subsidized by the taxpayer. The country, at least parts of it connected to DC, the litigation business, to the government, the sue till you are rich folks, are merrily aiding in the attempt to bring us down as a nation.

I can feel happy about the new plant in Chattanooga, but that dark monster of worry tells me much of the nation will not be so lucky particularly those parts that have been placed in Anarcho-tyranny by their particular viewpoints and voting habits. For today, Chattanooga, good going. The plant is German but the jobs will be for Americans. Problem is the profits will not remain in the US for the most part..unless the morons at the Fed or in government convince the Germans to buy more worthless US paper. Oh well, be happy, stop my whining and hope for 'change' that actually will mean something even it is regionally. Take that DC, take that San Francisco, take that Chicago, New York, LA...you are masters of your own demise.
