Federalist 58 by James Madison. 1. Under the proposed Constitution whose interests were represented by the U.S. Senate? Is it so today? If not, how might it be remedied & by what means? 2. How did the Constitution provide for updating representation in Congress? 3. Madison credits the U.S Constitution with assigning the greatest power, that of the “purse strings” to the U.S. House. In your opinion, how might the House assert that power to reduce the size & cost of government today? 4. Explain in your own words Madison’s warning against too many men serving in the House. How might his warning be applied today as calls abound for a more direct democracy & for scrapping the electoral college system? 5. Is democracy the form of government our Founders gave us or was it a republican form? Explain the difference.

Medical Licensing in the States: Room for Agreement & Reform

H-1B Immigrants Cheat Americans

H-1B Immigrants Cheat Americans

BY PHYLISS SCHLAFLY The president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Tom Donohue, hurled a challenge to Republicans. If you don't pass amnesty for illegal aliens this year, don't "bother to run a candidate in 2016." Somebody probably then told Donohue that was an outrageous statement, so he tried to pass it off as a joke. But it isn't funny; it [...]

Climate Science a Fraud, Not A Mistake

BY PHYLISS SCHLAFLY A new book called The Deliberate Corruption of Climate Science makes the case that climate change is a fraud. The global warming movement has been designed to justify more government controls, enrich its proponents, and radically change society. Climate scientist Tim Ball traces climate hysteria to the 1960s book The [...]

Accession to Convention on the Law of the Sea Unnecessary

STEVEN GROVES, HERITAGE FOUNDATION Abstract Over the past decades, Arctic nations have worked together to advance their shared goals for the region, and these relations are characterized by collaboration, not conflict. Accession to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) would not materially advance any U.S. national [...]

Court Tosses D.C. Tour Guide Licensing Scheme

ILYA SHAPIRO, CATO INSTITUTE Since there isn’t any other legal news this or next week, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C.
