Federalist 62. Madison reminds us that the election of U.S. Senators by their respective state legislatures secured state rights or authority. In your opinion, how might a return to this vital constitutional principle become a key element in empowering a push back against federal intrusion into powers our heaven inspired Constitution clearly retained as jurisdictionally belonging to state & local governments, to families & individuals, to private businesses, churches, & charities?

A Nation’s History of Prayer

A Nation’s History of Prayer

NATHANAEL BENNETT, ACLJ Today, May 1, 2014, is the 63rd annual National Day of Prayer.  However, our nation’s dependence on prayer reaches all the way back to our founding.  Our first President, George Washington, officially called the nation to prayer and Thanksgiving in 1789, and even before that, our first Congress opened its 1774 [...]

A Day of Reckoning

A Day of Reckoning

NATHANAEL BENNETT, ACLJ The time has come for the American People to insist that the dishonesty stop, and that the simple truth about why four Americans died is acknowledged. For far too long, a political game has been made a higher priority than the truth. We must not accept that any longer. It is time for the truth, and only the truth. As [...]

Congress Makes Strong Bipartisan Call for Pastor Saeed’s Release

The Abedini family NATHANAEL BENNETT, ACLJ As Pastor Saeed’s story continues to sweep the globe, and as we at the ACLJ prepare to take his case to the Human Rights Council in Geneva, the U.S. Congress has again spoken out forcefully in support of Saeed’s immediate release. This morning, 84 Members of the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House [...]

The Taxpayer Abortion Mill

The Taxpayer Abortion Mill

Nathanael Bennett, ACLJ As the United States faces historic budgetary problems, there is one industry that is not only thriving, but continues to be bolstered by hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.  Shockingly, that favored industry is none other than the abortion industry, and as always, the primary beneficiary of those taxpayer dollars [...]

Unchanging Principles; Fresh Ideas

Nathanael Bennett, ACLJ This election is over, but our principles endure.” - Gov. Mitt Romney, conceding 2012 presidential election In the wake of the reelection of President Barack Obama, many conservatives are understandably discouraged. It is natural to feel momentarily defeated when a setback occurs. However, conservatives must [...]

Devastating Failures in Libya

Devastating Failures in Libya

Nathanael Bennett, ACLJ Oct. 11, 2012 It was a sober and embarrassing day for the State Department at yesterday’s hearing in front of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee. In the course of just a few hours, the hearing revealed numerous astonishing facts surrounding the tragic terrorist attack on the U.S. Embassy in [...]

Happy Birthday Constitution!

Happy Birthday Constitution!

NATHANAEL BENNETT, ACLJ On this day 225 years ago, September 17, 1787, the Constitution of the United States was formally adopted by the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. After a intense (and brutally hot) summer of debate, luminous American figures including George Washington (who chaired the Convention), James Madison (author of the [...]

U.S. Senators Demand the IRS Leave the Tea Party Alone

U.S. Senators Demand the IRS Leave the Tea Party Alone

Nathanael Bennett, ACLJ The ACLJ is currently representing dozens of Tea Party groups across the country to fend off intrusive and unconstitutional inquiries from the IRS.  Because these inquiries go so far beyond what the IRS needs to fulfill its enforcement duties, and considering the community of groups that are receiving these inquiries [...]

Gender-based Abortions Still Legal in U.S. After Congress Votes

Gender-based Abortions Still Legal in U.S. After Congress Votes

Nathanael Bennett, ACLJ It is a tragedy of epic proportion that the United States is the only industrialized nation of the world that does not restrict abortions that are performed solely because of the gender of a child.  It’s equally alarming that the largest abortion provider in the world is actively opposing legislation that would right [...]

U.S. Senate Demands Answers from the IRS

U.S. Senate Demands Answers from the IRS

NATHANAEL BENNETT, ACLJ There is good news to report from Capitol Hill that relates to our ongoing efforts to defend Tea Party groups from an intimidation effort by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The Senate has now engaged. First, by way background, we represent a number of Tea Party groups from across the nation that have received [...]
